Art in the Alleys Unveiling! by Sura, October 1

This Saturday we’re unveiling “Art in the Alleys” as part of ArtWalk.*

Back alley and impromptu dancing, music, poetry and performance is welcome. Come over and join us!

GUIDED TOURS: Join us Saturday from 1-3 for guided tours (raindate Sunday, 1-3) by organizers and artists. Learn what inspired this event, what inspired the artists, and the history of the alleys that we uncovered (cows, chickens, blacksmith, pigeons and more).

IMPROMPTU ART PARADE: We’re trying to get some accordion players, maybe Mike will play his tuba, bring your horns, strings, drums, kazoos and whistles. In Riverwest fashion, let’s parade through the alleys! Jugglers, dancers and poets are all welcome! We’ll have chalk for kids or adults.

PARTY: Mike Chaltry, one of our participating homeowners at 3010 N. Booth, is going to put out a tent, and we’ll provide some refreshments. Bring your music, beer, cookies, magic tricks and snacks. Meet and talk to the artists, and get inspired to do the same thing in your alley.

DIRECTIONS: Chambers, from Holton to Fratney. Look for the chalk or flags or people or accordions or ???

* You can get your ArtWalk tickets ($3 only) along with maps for the entire ArtWalk tour at the Jazz Gallery on Weil and Center, Art Bar or Beginning Dreams on Burleigh and Fratney or Riverwest Co-op.
